Todd Bentley and Ministry Burn Out

Go Back To My Site

Fresh Fire Ministries announced that Todd Bentley and his wife Shonnah are separating. God T.V. said that it would stop broadcasting the Florida Outpouring. They asked all their partners to pray for Todd. Fresh Fire Ministries has sent out an e-mail stating that Todd was stepping down from the ministry.

I have been asked by a number of people what I thought about the controversial Florida Outpouring with Evangelist Todd Bentley. I never cease to be amazed at how some Christians and ministers are so quick to make judgments and criticize any revival or move of God. They become obsessed with trying to find fault with the vessels God chooses to use. Like the Pharisees in Jesus’ time, they feel like they are God’s F.B.I. agents in charge of policing evangelists, revivals, and moves of God.

When I first watched the Revival on God T.V. and saw Todd Bentley, I will admit it was a bit of a shock to me to see this young man with tattoos all over his arms and neck with a diamond stud on his lower lip. I’m sure I was looking at it through the eyes of an older generation.

But as I watched the hunger in the people and Todd Bentley, I recognized a genuine outpouring as it was broadcast by God T.V. to over 200 nations. This may have been the first time that many people witnessed a miracle on live T.V. and the internet as it went out to the world.

As I watched this the Lord reminded me that I prophesied in 1971 that through satellite, T.V. would broadcast miracles live around the world. This prophetic word was published in Miracle Magazine.

The Florida Outpouring started in Ignited Church in Lakeland, Florida where Stephen Strader is the pastor. Lakeland has had 3 outpourings over the last 50 years. The first one was when Karl Strader brought in Evangelist Richard Vineyard for a revival. Richard Vineyard was a part of the Healing Revival that started in 1946. This was a time in America when a great Healing Revival swept across our nation. God raised up such men as William Branham, Oral Roberts, Jack Coe, T.L. Osborn, A.A. Allen, and about 200 others that made up the Voice of Healing. As a child and teenager I attended many of these revivals then in 1958 I started working with A.A. Allen and still continue that ministry today. A.A. Allen discipled me and imparted his anointing to me and like Elisha picked up the mantle of Elijah, I picked up the mantle of A.A. Allen.

In 1962, at the age of 22, I was arrested for integrating my revival service in Charleston, SC. In 1971 I was told that I was the first healing evangelist to go to the new Madison Square Garden, where 22,000 people filled it up and 7,000 souls came to Christ and powerful miracles took place. It was called Compassion Explosion. The media attention I received was incredible. It included the Associated Press, and Rolling Stone Magazine as well as other newspapers.

I was only 31 years old at that time. From there I started speaking to the nations of the world -- Brazil, England, Africa. In the Philippines the crowd was reported to be 500,000 people.

By 1971 I had already been on the field for 13 years, most of that time with A.A. Allen. For the next 10 years I went non-stop. Night and day, many time preaching 3 times a day. I had such a passion for souls and the miracle working power of God. After 23 years I burnt out as a result. I went through a divorce in 1983.

I am telling you all of this to say that Todd Bentley is only 32 years old. He started his ministry when he was at a young age and for the last 10 years he has given of himself night and day in the ministry of the supernatural.

My son, Brendon Stewart, went to the Lakeland, Florida Revival in May and spent a week there and received a powerful impartation. I began to pray for the revival in Lakeland and for Todd Bentley because I knew that he was going to have a lot of pressure on him and receive persecution from some religious people as well as the media.

I did not know Todd. I had never heard of him until Brendon brought him to my attention on God T.V. God spoke to me and gave me a word for Todd. I contacted a number of people. I called his assistants, his office, sent e-mails to ask if I could have 5 minutes of his time to give him this word. I didn’t get any response at all. But I flew to Lakeland anyway and spent 3 days there trying my best to get the word God gave me to him. A number of people recognized me and tried to help, to no avail.

I will not tell you what God told me to tell him. But I will tell you this: I was able to identify with him because he became a highly visible evangelist very quickly as I did years ago. Todd became famous because of his exposure on God T.V. as well as the powerful anointing that was on him. The word God gave me for him had to do with the media, his family, and burnout.

I am not critical of Todd for not responding. He probably did not even know about it. I know that after I received all the media exposure that I received when I went to New York’s Madison Square Garden I was living in a glass house. There were probably people who tried to get in touch with me that couldn’t, so I understand. I’m sure that he had all kinds of people who were trying to give him advice or a word. I heard him a number of times quote the Scripture that in the last days God would turn the hearts of the father to the sons and the sons to the father. (Malachi 4:6)

The only thing though that bothered me was an attitude by some staff and workers. I could see it was the same attitude that hindered the Healing Revival of the 40’s and 50’s: the lack of recognition that God has many streams that He is flowing in. When a revival or movement starts feeling they are the chosen one and fail to recognize that God has many streams in the body of Christ. My experience has been that when you take on this attitude that it starts to self-destruct because they don’t discern the Lord’s Body (1 Cor. 11:29).

I don’t know if it would have made any difference had I been given the chance to speak into Todd’s life or not. Would he have received it? I do know that God gave me the word and I did what I could to get it to him. There is something about being in a miracle prophetic ministry for 50 years seeing many different ministries and movements, dealing with a lot of the same issues that Todd has had to deal with that I believe could have helped him.

I pray for him and believe that he will be back stronger than ever because he and his gifts are needed. I did not come out of the prophetic stream of Toronto and Brownsville which were powerful moves of God. My spiritual heritage is the Latter Rain movement and the Healing Revivals of the 40’s and 50’s.

Each of us are influenced and molded by whatever stream of anointing we were birthed in. We also see them from both a cultural and generational influence in our lives.

The Bible says, “Every scribe brings forth both new and old.” (Matt. 13:52)

I will tell you that I received a Fresh Fire Impartation when I was in Lakeland those 3 days at the first of June. I am grateful for Todd’s ministry and the price he paid to bring it to us. My prayer and faith is that Todd will be back stronger than ever.

The Florida Outpouring continues at Ignited Church. I can assure you it’s in good hands with Pastor Stephen Strader who has a powerful anointing on his life with signs, wonders, and miracles. He is a very gracious man that I am happy to call friend.

Over the 140 days of revival in Lakeland a number of men and women of God ministered in the Revival such as Bob Jones, Karl Strader, Rick Joyner, Patricia King, and Bill Johnson.

  3. Don, I really want to speak with you about a certain issue I have. I'm not sure if this is the proper way to reach you, but I feel I really need to speak with you about this. After reading my bible and receiving your "prayer cloth" and "hand of anointing" in the mail, I've been wondering what sort of biblical foundation you have to promise easy times and financial surplus if we donate money to your ministry. When Jesus came, he called us into a walk that would be filled with hard times and persecution. Nowhere does it say that God will provide us with Lamborghinis and surpluses of money. In fact, from what I've been reading it seems as thought God is telling us not to focus on money at all, but to focus on the types of riches that he has, as in love, compassion and mercy.

Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

    1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

I really don't mean to offend you, but it's something I feel I really need to speak to you about. Thank you for hearing me out.

  4. Don, with all respect, you have to be joking in referring to King, Johnson, and others. They are teaching heresies.Go read the Charisma Forums. Here is one example of the mortuary ministry King is promoting, among the gemstones, gold dust, glitter, false orbs, and New Age doctrines. She and her teams are going into mortuaries and trying to raise the dead! Pleeese! Stop this necromancy! Here's the website:

    http://www.alittleleaven.com/2008/08/mortuary-outrea.html#comments

As far as Johnson goes, this is an excerpt from his book, "When Heaven Invades Earth" pg.141 This is ungodly heresy mixed with the Word, and we are not going to "swallow and follow" this any more, but we are going to speak up and proclaim the truth!

"On many occasions laughter has filled a room, bringing healing to broken hearts. Gold dust sometimes covers people's faces, hands or clothing during worship or ministry. Oil sometimes appears on the hands of His people; and it especially happens among children. A wind has come into a room with no open windows, doors, vents, etc. At some locations, believers have seen an actual cloud of His presence appearing over the heads of worshiping people. We've also had the fragrance of heaven fill a room. In my own experience the fragrance of heaven filled our car while Beni and I were worshiping on a short trip. It lasted for about 30 minutes, and was a smell that I could actually taste, similar to granules of sugar sprinkled on my tongue. I have seen the small gems that suddenly appeared in people's hands as they worshiped God. Since early in 1998 we have had feathers fall in our meetings. At first I thought birds were getting into our air-conditioning ducts, but then they started falling in other rooms of the church not connected with he same ductwork. They now fall most anywhere we go-airports, homes, restaurants, offices, and the like. I mention this phenomenon because it seems to offend many that fully embrace this move of God. Jerrel Miller, editor of The Remnant a newspaper whose purpose is to record the events surrounding this revival, took a lot of heat when he reported this unusual manifestation. Those who criticized his report are participants in this revival. It's easy once we've made some adjustments in our belief system about what God can and will do to think that we have stretched far enough. ..........God will violate our list of acceptable manifestations. .....I do refuse to be embarrassed over what God is dong...... His manifestations, while offensive to the minds of many, are limitless in number, and are simple indicators of God's presence and purpose. Why are they necessary? Because He wants to take us farther, and we can only get there by following signs. Our present understanding of Scripture can only take us so far."

MY GOD PEOPLE, DID YOU READ THAT???SCRIPTURES ARE NO LONGER ENOUGH FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE IN GOD!! MY GOD, MY GOD!!

My goal in posting this is to say to the Church, wake up! Wake up sleeping church! THEY WANT TO BRING CORRECTION TO MR. BENTLEY?? WHO IS GOING TO BRING CORRECTION TO THEM? THEY ARE LEADING MANY SHEEP ASTRAY. WAKE UP INTERCESSORS AND PRAY! I ADJURE YOU LEADERS WHO ARE PROMOTING THIS HYPE TO REPENT AND ASK FORGIVENESS FOR YOUR SENSATIONALISM OF THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST AND HIS FORGIVENESS ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS!

  5. Rev Stewart,

You asked for people to comment, so here goes:

Todd Bentley is not going through burnout. God has exposed his sins, which are many and serious, and has stopped him from deceiving the flock any more. He's reaping the whirlwind he has sown.

His marital unfaithfulness (which goes back at least three years) is but the tip of an iceberg. For a long time (well before Lakeland started), all Todd has done is to bring lies, false teaching, and occult practices into the church. I do not say that lightly or without careful investigation. According to my Bible, that is not a "ministry" but the work of satan. If you think otherwise, it gives me no pleasure to say that the body of Christ will be better off if you were also to step down.

What happened in Lakeland was not a "revival", "outpouring", or work of God. If you believe it was any of these, I'm sorry to say that you have no discernment whatsoever. At best, Lakeland was a man-made circus created by crowd manipulation and mass hypnosis, and at worse a scheme of the devil straight out of the deepest pit of hell.

In case you think I'm a hypocrite, I should add that, like every Christian, I am a sinner. I'm not a high-profile figure and just serve the Lord in the things He has called me to, and don't always get it right. But, unlike Todd, I have not stood on a platform in front of thousands, with many more watching on television, and repeatedly lied to them in the name of God. I have not invoked angels, pushed people over whilst praying for them, or sold the blessings of God for money. Nor have I assaulted someone and claimed the Holy Spirit told me to, or arrogantly announced that "when God's not moving, I move God". And, if I did any one of these evil acts, I'd expect to be in trouble very quickly.

By the way, many (if not all) of the names you mention such as William Branham, Oral Roberts, AA Allen, Bob Jones, Rick Joyner, Patricia King and Bill Johnson were/are fraudsters or heretics and should be avoided at all costs.

  6. yes he was burned out, he may have felt not accepted by his own because of his outside appearance. I don't blame him, he needed to be away from all the pressure, and start a new beginning!

  7. Dear Don Stewart like you I think Todd Bentley is burn out. He is still a young man at the age of 32 with issues that he may also be fighting that has affected is Ministry and Marriage.

  8. Dear Rev.Stewart, You and Todd Bentley are fellow brothers in Christ, if he actually knows that you have been trying to see him and talk to him, assuming that his assistants did give him all his messages, and he outright refuses or neglects to respond to you in person, phone, regular mail or email then it may be that he is not responding due to FEAR. He knows you are a man of God and that you probably have a word for him directly from the Lord, maybe he just doesn't want to hear it. He is AFRAID to hear it. We can not know if he's burned out, it could just be that he feels SHAME and HURT for the situations that have occured in his private family life, his marriage to be specific. If he's been sinful, he has to confess it to the Lord. So all you can really do is continue to pray for him like you have been doing. God does want you to tell him the message, and I'm sure in some way Todd Bentley will receive it. Just think about the fact that God could have told him the message himself but He wants you to do it. It has to come from your mouth for some reason, some purpose. Of course His will will be done. I am sure that you are not the only one that Todd has been avoiding. But one thing he can not avoid God, God is right by his side no matter what he's going through. God Bless You and I'll see you when you come to NYC in September.

  9. Thanks there, Rev. Stewart, for the blog and for inviting me to comment. Taking into consideration the American Culture, I strongly believe that Todd experienced a burn out. Besides the pressrures of the media and the schedules he had to keep, there was also the pressure from his wife. I thank God for African women and the African Culture which teaches our women and honor and stand by their husbands in whatsoever area of work they find themselves. An African wife will accompany her evangelist husband to many of his meetings and remain at home, when necessary, to care for the kids and not complain one day; because she sees a higher power at work in the life of her husband. And she also view it an honor to be the wife of a man that is being used of God. If there are any problems at home, with the kids or whatsoever, she will respectfully discuss it with her husband. Not one day will she challenge her husband or threaten to leave him with 'his ministry and his God', but with the American wife, it is all about her satisfaction and 'what about me too' attitude. Thank God I did marry an American wife. As ministers, we are not perfect, but our wives understand in the African Culture and are willing to stand with us thru thick and thin. My prayer is with Todd and pray that he recovers within the shortest possible time by the Grace of God.

  10. Blessings Don!
It would appear that everyone has an answer, or what they perceive to be an answer, to all the problems that take place in the Church today but all I'm hearing is 'judgement' and sad to say, mostly from Christians.
Today, anyone who is willing to stand up for their beliefs will come up against persecution and this is biblical; but, what people, especially church goers, don't take into consideration, is that God is 'no respecter of persons' and neither should we be.
When Peter denied he knew Jesus, he wasn't told to stay away from God's work...he was told, by Jesus, to 'feed my sheep'. This business about taking time away from the pulpit because one sinned, is not a biblical concept but a means of controling who and what is being preached. If preachers are going to be denied the pulpit because of some 'sin', then we wouldn't have anyone preaching because we are all sinners and one sin is no worse then another. .ei: adultry (in thought or in deed), usery, gossip, selfrighteousness, drinking, abuse, pointing of the finger, etc.., I could go on and on. If Jesus is being preached, leave them alone. If they are doing wrong, God will deal with them. We are called to pray one for another, not tear each other apart. Some speak of cult practices...well, anything that goes against the Word is a cult practice because 'we are either for Him or against Him'. We are called to love our enemies and to pray for them and God will do the rest.
The church (religious people) should stop trying to do God's job for Him and instead get on their knees and pray for 'said offenders', as Jesus told us to do. The devil doesn't have to destroy Christians...we do it to each other. All Satan has to do is sit back and watch it happen.
Jeramiah had it rough back in his time, as did Elijah, Ezekiel, and all the prophets but none suffered like Jesus, the Living Word and God's Son. He took all our sin, sickness, hurts, etc..,and He nailed them to the cross, opening a way for us to approach God's throne, boldly and just as we are, not as we should be. If one has an issue with someone else's preaching, take it to God and stop giving the devil a foothold. We are living in the last days and the unity of the Church is very important. It's vital that we get the Word out to the lost and get as many saved as we can. People need to get their eyes off their brothers and sisters in Christ and turn them upon the lost.
"The fields are white for harvest but the harvesters are few."
God bless you and all who uphold the name of Jesus!

  13. Jesus loves people and none of us measure up, BUT JESUS, He made it possible for us to do so and as such, we should get our eyes off of others, and their shortcomings, and back on Jesus, where they belong! There is not one person alive who can point the finger at another without sinning because we are all sinners, saved by grace, if we embrace the Bible and its perfect truth, and therefore true followers of Christ. Jesus said, "Follow Me" not Tom, Dick, Harry or Jane. Also, as Paul the apostle declared, "Follow me as I follow Christ". He didn't say to follow only those who looked good but those who followed Jesus.
When a lost soul finds Jesus, He takes them as they are..tatoos and all...He doesn't tell them to have plastic surgery or some life changing surgery to measure up to His standing...NO, He, like He did for the unacceptable woman in Luke 7:37-50, accepts a true repentant heart. Thank God He doesn't judge us by our outward appearance, but by our hearts, because none would have a chance if He judged like man does. Legalism is a great deterrent to receiving God's grace. Those who point fingers, at one such as Todd Bentley, should know that more fingers are being pointed back at them...THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT!

    Dear Pastor Don,

Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion in regards to Tod Bently's situation.

First of all, I don't have much information about Tod B. I've never seen his God t.v program in Florida.

The news that he is stepping down in the ministry is not unusual.

My mom's friend in San Francisco, she got married to a former Priest. They have a nice beautiful house, and they have one son.

Judge not that you be not judged.Just because Tod B is stepping down,it does not mean,he is a bad person,it does not mean, he is a failure,we don't count against him.His life, the ministry, does not end that very moment. If he did something wrong,or whatever it may be, we need to forgive, forget, and continue to walk with the Lord.God will use him in different ways according to His plan and purpose.

He is 32 years old, very young physically but old enough to make good decision especially he is a Bible oriented man.He is not burnt out.A Christian, who is anointed and had impartation and has seen God's movement and miracle, will not be burnt out, instead you will gain super natural energy, motivation,to do good things on earth for God's glory.

Tod and his family are under attack by Satan. He needs to kick Satan's head and stand in God's word.He needs to get himself together.

Pastor Don,don't take it personally,if he did not respond to all your effort to contact him.Right now he is probably blind and deaf to any advices because of the situation. But he is aware that the Pastor, church members, partners, and friends are praying for him.whatever his decision,we need to respect it.

Regarding his separation with his wife, whatever their differences, they need to work it out.Shonnah, is very fortunate to have a husband who is in the ministry. She should know her duties and obligations,God first. What God has joined together let no man put asunder.

  16. Dear Don,
I was watching the Todd Bentley programming in Florida for a while and then the Lord spoke to me in that still small voice one day and said."Lisa, you are following this person, not ME". I stopped watching it and repented for my turning my eyes so easily onto a human being and taking it off God so quickly.
When christian leaders fall it is very sad. God's word clearly says "man will always fail you!". When will we put all our trust in the King of Kings and follow Him with our entire being and walk as brothers and sisters in Christ side by side regardless of status and names?
In conclusion, my thoughts on Todd Bentley are...just because he's such a huge leader and was a great success we must pray for him and keep our eyes fixed on God and off people.
God will restore him and his family because he's so loving:)
    Loving God...Loving people!

  17. Dear Reverend Don,
I agree that this is a case of burn out but I think that it is a case of spiritual attack by the enemy to discredit the vessel by any means necessary. Todd is going through a growing process just like we are going through a growing process in Christ. I have listened to all of Todd's podcasts and also his marinating and soaking CD and testify to the Holy ghost anointing on his life. I have grown through his ministry.
I have also supported your ministry through the mail with donations and gifts. I met you in Chicago and you autographed my book and prayer cloth. I told you I had just lost my job. Now I have a job!
    Thanks,

  18. OK, let me try this one more time: is all this attention good for Todd? When I say, "Leave him alone", I think it is as much for his own sake as anyone else's. It takes a lot of seasoning to be able to handle that kind of attention, and I think the outcome of this situation testifies to the fact that it was not good for him - and isn't. So, as I said, I say again, "Please, leave him alone."

  19. Seems my last comment did not get posted so here goes another!

Here is what the Holy Spirit tells me to tell you Don.
Piercings and tattoos are sin. Flaunting tattoos and piercings before the people is wrong.

GOD deserves our best. GOD does not deserved to be mocked. His WORD does not deserve to be defied.

I believe your letter to Todd was blocked by GOD. GOD's Word does not change for the 21st century.
It remains faithful and true even as it was written so many centurys ago.

If adultery is the cause of marriage breakdown then sobeit.
If GOD is the reason for Todd being out of the Ministery then sobeit.

I am not GOD's FBI agent. There is a book called the Word of GOD which man can chose either to follow disregard.

No you werent looking at the man through the eyes of a younger generation. Neither were you looking at the man with the Word of GOD as your plumbline.

These days " anything goes" is the churches banner. This is a satanic ploy of deception to lead GOD's people away from the WORD, thereby separating us from the Living Word Christ Jesus. It was not "anything goes" with Jesus. Neither should it be with the Body of Christ.

The FATHER does not change. Neither does His WORD which is a good and perfect gift. JAS 1:16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

I am glad Todd is stepping down from the ministry.

What nextDon? Will we see the rest of Leviticus acted out on the pulpit? GOD said "No tattos or piercings"

But for those who dont believe the WORD of GOD to be unchanging and for today as well as tomorrow then "anything goes".

Deny GOD's WORD and the GOD of the WORD denies you.

Methinks this is what is written MT 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Imagine Don, you before the Lord having cast out demons and performing miracles and He says "I never knew you."

I dont believe your blog bears good fruit. Why? Because it goes against GOD's WORD.

Will Todd be back stronger than ever!? I pray he doesnt.

    May the outpouring continue.

  20. We live in the days of selfish Christianity. We are more concerning with "feeling God" then doing what He commands us to do - like preaching the Gospel. Today we strive for Holy Ghost goose bumps and a tingle in our toes.

We live in sad times. The American church does not seek to minister. Instead, it only wants to be ministered to.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We do indeed live in perilous times, which is why I said before I just want to be perfect. I just want to turn not to the right hand or to the left. The fact is, we NEED the Holy Spirit, and he DOES manifest himself. He DOES comfort us, and far be it from me to despise those who need his touch, and therefore get it. Equally far be it from me, however, to be ignorant of the enemy's devices - and does he ever love to compromise us and and get us sidetracked. Jesus was full of grace AND truth.

1 Tim. 6:17. It talks about being highminded and putting your trust in riches. Then he says, God gives us richly all things to enjoy. Luke 6:38, Jesus said, “Give, and it shall be given unto thee, heaped up, pressed down, shaken together, and running over." That sounds like surplus. In Matthew 19:16-29, Jesus said to the rich young ruler to give all. "It’s easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to go to Heaven." Then He says, "with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. No man has given up houses or land, etc. for My sake, but he will receive a hundredfold in this life and eternal life."

Notice He said “…in this life…” you will receive a hundredfold return.

  23. To Love the Word: What you say about King and Johnson and others seems to put a limit on God and His power. These things all sound like signs, wonders and miracles. What is wrong with raising the dead?

Jesus says in Matt. 10:7,8: “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is a hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

In respect to you and your particular doctrine, I would say, what if you are wrong and these things are real manifestations of God’s power?

I personally have not made a judgment on feathers and gold dust, etc. and I believe it is a dangerous thing to criticize the anointing. The Bible says, "Touch not Mine anointed. Do my prophets no harm." (1 Ch. 16:22, Ps. 105:15)
I do believe in the validity of Scriptures, but I noticed you seem to take out of context what Bill Johnson said. “Our present understanding of Scripture can only take us so far.”

He didn’t say Scripture; he said our understanding of Scripture. Understanding means revelation. Some people only have understanding on John 3:16 – salvation; they have no understanding of the Book of Acts or 1 Cor. I have seen many times through the years that God would fill someone with the Holy Spirit before he understood it.
I appreciate your love for the Word. I trust that you have not come to a place where "the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." (2 Cor. 3:6)

  24. To coyote_girl05: A lot of what you said I agree with. "For we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Ro 3:23) Judgment is a tool of Satan. It was the Pharisees that fought Jesus.

I’m for giving mercy and restoration. That’s what “Be spiritual” means. "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." (Ga. 6:1)

  26. Hygia_somo: You said that Todd "is a Bible oriented man. He is not burnt out. A Christian, who is anointed and had impartation and has seen God's movement and miracles, will not be burnt out. Instead, you will gain supernatural energy, motivation, to do good things on earth for God’s glory."

I agree that when you receive an impartation and are anointed, spend time in the presence of Jesus, you gain supernatural energy, but let me remind you that Jesus, Himself, had to withdraw from people from time to time.

Being in the ministry for about 50 years, I have learned that I must pace myself or burn out can take place. It is important that we in the body of Christ not judge

  31. Don: I completley agree with you that God has an abundance, but I don't think that the riches talked about in scripture are financial riches. My original posts explained why I believed that God's abundance and riches are in love and fruits of the spirit not what the world refers to as riches. As for your reference to Matthew 19:16-19, you added another part of scripture that doesn't normally follow that passage. Although Jesus does say both of those things, they aren't in reference to each other. Why didn't you reference that second part? There are many things that can be proven by taking two verses out of context like that. I would really love to continue this conversation, if you don't think this is the proper place then perhaps we can exchange emails instead?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Don, What you dont tell the people is we "must" seek the Kingdom of GOD before we receive the "All these things."

You teach people to seek GOD for riches, when GOD is saying "Seek me" first.

You have people seeking riches who would be completely destroyed for their inability to use wealth wisely.

Jesus said to seek the Kingdom of GOD first. Why? Because we need the wisdom of GOD. Because wealth without wisdom can destroy.

Jesus tells us to seek The Kingdom of GOD 1st because GOD is a wise investor. He will not invest in something or someone that will not bring Him glory.

If the gift does not bring glory to GOD is it really of/from GOD?

Jesus teaches us to pray on all occasions. What people need most is not wealth but wisdom. Without wisdom the wealth can serve to destroy what GOD has set up.

PR 8:11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Wisdom is more precious than wealth.

The Word goes on to tell us that if we seek 1st the Kingdom of GOD, then all these things(including wealth, health, and prosperity of spirit soul mind and body) are available.

It is not enough to speak prosperity from GOD without speaking of Seeking GOD 1st and foremost before seeking wealth.

Speaking of prosperity without seeking GOD above all else gets "you Don" and your ministry wealthy 1st. GOD does not get glory from preaching one side or part of the message.

  34. Welcome! To Great Revival Miracle Crusade Cebu City,Philippines in April 2009 by Pastor Don Stewart.

    Dear Pastor Don Stewart,
Praise the Lord! I'm trying to reach you as quick as possible. I don't know your phone number or email.
My cousin in England is now in Cebu checking things out.April 2009 is open. How is schedule for April 4 and 5 for this event? Please let me know. Thank you.
Pastor Don Stewart, when I got your message that you're going to Inglewood July 20,it was a miracle.
I knew in spirit that God sent you for me.
July 20,2008 when you prayed for me there something happened.God touched me.It was a beautiful and wonderful and peaceful feeling.
July 25,2008 in the evening I was sitting on the couch listening to your gospel cd.While listening to the "Galilee" song the spirit told me to kneel down and pray,so I did.I thanking God for loving me and dying for me in Calvary, then suddenly I saw a vision,I saw a lot of people with their hands lifted up it looks like they were inside a coliseum then I saw a man standing on the stage he was wearing a golden brown suit.when I looked at his face I was surprised,it was you. Then I said to myself,"Pastor Don Stewart?"I asked the Lord, "what does this mean?" Then a divine direction started to guide me to ask you to have a miracle crusade in Cebu City.I asked if this is my mission when the priest told me that God has a mission for me and that I have to pray.Remember Pastor Don in Dec.2007 I wrote you a letter that I saw an old woman dressed in white that appeared in the church.I followed her outside and she disappeared. I told the priest about it and he believed me.During my vision,I asked God if this is my mission and then every time I ask I felt cold water running inside my heart it was a peaceful feeling. The next day I wrote you part of it.God wants me to go home and visit the Philippines after 20 years in the U.S. to have great revival with my cousins.
The first purpose of this event is not to entertain my cousins or the people in the Philippines but to revive them and to strengthen their faith in Jesus,to worship him and praise him purely,to walk closely and to work with him faithfully.
The second purpose,I want to share my victorious testimony what God has done for me.
God has a special miracles for everyone. They need to come believe and be ready to receive.
Pastor Don,I never imagine that I would be doing this special job.I'm still hoping, praying and taking my daughter to her ice skating practice for the Olympic dream. But seek yee first the Kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all this things shall be added unto you.
Thank you for all your prayers,God Bless!

  35. Wow. I got your green miracle prayer cloths in the mail years ago and felt the anger of God toward you. What a huckster you are. I have a word for you, repent or you will spend eternity in hell. You don't fool me, you peddling con man, you.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dude! Let me guess: you're not hip to the "prayer cloth" scene. In that case, here's a thought: give it a miss! Brother Steward standeth or falleth to his own master, and let me update you: you're not him! Remember: Jesus said whoever says "Racca!" shall be in danger of hell fire. Maybe you're the one who's headed for hell. I can assure you of this, punk: it sure isn't Don Stewart.

I can't wait for Don's prayer cloth to pay off for me and make me a millionaire. When it does, I'll laugh you to scorn. And, perish the thought, if it never does, I'll settle for "food convenient for me" just the same.

    Replies
    1. By the way, I am not a millionaire yet, but I sure to have my debts paid, and am enjoying even some money in the bank and some savings! Hallelujah! Thank thee, Don, for whatever hand thou hast had in all of this (by the way, those are simply singular pronouns).

      Delete
  37. Honestly, anything that focusses on a person more than God is a little bit shaky to me. When I received Don's prayer cloth it suggested that I "give my greatest sacrifice" of money to Don Stewart so that he could be the touchpoint or mediator to connect with God and hear a prophetic word from Him.

Last time I read the Bible, especially the book of Hebrews, I understood that I could be my own touchpoint with God and that Jesus was my mediator. Why do we need to work through Don Stewart to receive prophecy and hear the thoughts and words of God?

If anything we must focus on Jesus and ask Him to be our mediator.

I don't believe this ministry even needs much of our money. I know of many other ministries and churches that can't even afford to buy their own building yet. Let's be good stewards of the money God is supplying and share it where it is needed.

Don Stewart's association has plenty of money. They can easily support a four day layover in Hawaii, a conference in the Phillipines, Don Stewart's timeshare monthly mortgage payments and much more. (http://phoenix.bizjournals.com/phoenix/stories/1997/09/22/story6.html)

Even if I believed that Don Stewart's ministry was based on Jesus, how could I justify donating to an organization that is already so rich that they have come under scrutiny from the IRS? I would much rather devote my financial resources to a poor seminary student or a struggling church plant.

My anonymous friend's comments seemed to be a bit too much mudslinging to me. Although I agree that Mr Stewart's ministry is a bit suspicious, we can't judge someone elses state of eternal salvation, all we can do is try to correct them where we see wrongs.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Obviously, you know more than I do. I just know Don's an alright guy, as far as I can tell. If he happens to have money to throw around, I'm happy for him. That sure isn't my lot right now, but if it ever is, I pray that people would give me the benefit of the doubt, and rest assured that I fear God and eschew evil. If riches increase, by no means should we set our hearts upon them - but if someone else has money, far be it from me to have a "sour grapes" attitude about it.

Your message definitely was more balanced than the previous one. I would simply say: you don't have to give a dime to Don if you don't want to, and neither do I. Some people obviously are giving to him, however, and, personally, I pray that God would bless them for it.

  39. To Anonymous:

You should have not felt angry towards pastor Don Stewart "The Man of God". You should be ashamed of yourself. You don't know what you are talking about. But the bible says, " Being hateful is not from God."

You should be attacking and focusing
how to fight the terrorist, how to solve the convicted murderers and rapists. Not the man of God who is preaching the Gospel according to the bible.

Since I have received my green prayer handkerchief I have been blessed and have received miracles of wonders according to ACTS 19:11:12 as point of contact.

    1. Every time I feel pain throughout my body or my head starts hurting I lay the green prayer handkerchief where it hurts and I feel well shortly after and I don't have to take any medicines. Before I used to take 3-4 different kinds of painkillers.

    2. When my son got sick with a fever of 103 and 105 he was taken to the emergency and had IV in him the doctor could not find what was wrong with him. He was sent home and still had a high fever but when I laid the green prayer cloth on his head and prayed my son began to get well. Praise God!

    3. Last Feb. 2008 my daughter fell training at the ice rink and she hurt her back. The ambulance had to come take her to the ER. After the x-ray it was a miracle. There was no fracture, no dislocation, and no bruise at all.AMAZING.

4.My aunt in a different country was sick and bed ridden. I sent my green prayer cloth handkerchief that Pastor Don Stewart gave me to my cousin in England and my cousin followed the instructions and laid the prayer cloth on my aunts head and it's a miracle that my aunt got healed. She is ambulating and talking healthy. Praise God.

These are some of my testimonies that I can share with you.

    Peace be with you.

  40. Dear Matthew,

    The greatest sacrifice.

Read the bible John 3:16 you have to give your best because God gives the best to you.

Read the bible Malachi about tithes and offerings and bring your gifts and presents to God.

You asked " Why do we need to work with pastor Don to receive a prophecy?" You need to read this bible to find the answer to your question.

You said Pastor Don Stewart's association has plenty of money.I'm glad to know because they travel to preach the Gospel.

" Lay over in Hawaii after the conference"
They deserve a break. You need to read the bible in Genesis and pay attention to details. After God made the earth in 6 days he took a break.

Regarding the IRS, the journal and the stories are part of the job, politics and propaganda. It doesn't change anything.

Justifying donations to the organization.Recently I found out that my first cousin had graduated with Pastor Don's Bible school college. She's a Pastor now and at the same time a lawyer. Isn't God wonderful.

    Peace be with you.

  41. >>Recently I found out that my first cousin had graduated with Pastor Don's Bible school college. She's a Pastor now<<

Well - that's all I need to know about Pastor Don. His Bible school ordains woman to be Pastors in spite of I Tim 3, I Cor 11 and 14:34-35. Is it any wonder the Church has become so weak and impudent today??

Sigh ... and I will be called "hateful" because I bring up these passages ...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Not hateful - just a little indiscreet, and perhaps a little hasty in your judgments. Jesus said, "If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them." Obviously, you know better than to suffer a woman to teach, or usurp authority over a man. So, "do" it! Or in this case, don't "do" it.

What about forbidding to speak with tongues? Do you "know" that? A lot of people who obviously know women should not teach or usurp authority over a man think it's all "hunky dory" if they ignore the second last verse of I Corinthians 14. It actually kind of, well, gets me zealous.

"My zeal hath consumed me, because thine enemies have forgotten thy words" (Psalm 119:139) (Not that I'm calling you God's enemy or anything, just lamenting those who do show themselves such).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dear Steve,
"To be or not to be, women in ministry"
You said " That's all I need to know about Pastor Don, his bible school ordain to be a Pastor"
I am replying for defense. Please read 1 Peter 3:15.

I sense that your finding somebody's fault or mistake. No one is perfect but the bible said we need to be perfect as the father in heaven is perfect.

    Are all men created equal?
Why is there rich and poor?
Why is there pretty and ugly?
Why are some born healthy while others are born disabled?
    Is there equal rights?
    Equal opportunity?
    Equal inheritance?
    Equal genes?
Then why men are only allowed to preach the gospel?
This is debatable because it is considered discrimination of gender and it will go on.
Please read Matthew 28:18-20 This announced and proclaim that women are also called to preach the gospel. Please read 1 Corinthians 11:5 Women are not totally restricted. 1 Corinthians 12 Women are not restricted to exercise the gifts of Holy Spirit.

Whatever it may be I truly believe with all my heart that Pastor Don Stewart is a man of God. It has been proven to me by television, by prayer letters, by being blessed from the power through his hands. He has a power in his hands when God sends his power through him. I experienced it, there is no doubt about it. I am fully convinced, and nobody can change my mind. It is a divine connection. Thank you Jesus. Peace be with you.

  45. It was the woman who was deceived - not the man. The curse extends beyond the Garden, same as women suffering pain in child birth.

But let us look at a right life example before we continue.

    >>The time has come for Christians to stop the spiritual violence that is being done to our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) brothers and sisters. Traditional Christianity has often been the source of repression and discrimination against LGBT persons. This spiritual violence has contributed to or has been the source of the physical violence that LGBT persons and communities have experienced for thousands of years.

  46. The above statement by these three ladies was in response to a Christian writing a brocure that said homosexuality is a sin.

Like I said ... it was the woman (Eve) who was deceived, not the man (Adam). When God takes away the "pain in child birth" (by miracle - not drugs) - then I will say it is proper for a woman to teach a man.

    Your turn.

It's a fair enough question given the topic of Bentley has waned, and he is beginning anew from his "burn out" by picking up "a-new" wife. It is what it is with Bentley - though I do wonder if the man he kneed in the gut (with stage 4 stomach cancer - who died 7 days later) has decided to sue Bentley. Next topic I guess.

Here is a fresh topic for you Don ..."Should Ministers be allowed to be sued, when healing fails?"

    Just a thought.

Why do you spell "Bible" with a small "b"? 1 Cor 11:5 says it is a dishonourable things for a woman to pray or prophecy with her head uncovered. How does that tell you that they can speak in church, when chapter 14 clearly says they are to keep silence?

I speak with tongues more than ye all! I am not opposing speaking in tongues. I am arguing against forbidding to speak with tongues. Did you not know that? I do not completely understand what you were trying to say by recommending those Scriptures to me. I am aware of them and agree with them wholeheartedly.

I have told my pastor, and please pray that God would over-rule. He is an independent baptist, and his church is openly "non-charismatic". Personally, I want to turn neither to the right hand nor to the left. On the one hand, forbid not to speak with tongues. On the other hand, let all things be done decently and in order. Search the Scriptures, whether these things be so.

Regarding the capital "B" and "b" for Bible I am aware of it. I'm always busy, always in a hurry,I have so many things on my mind,I have so many things I have to accomplish aside from working.

Also, I am deeply sorry for confusing you regarding the speaking in tongues. I thought you opposed speaking in tongues in church.

I Corinthians 11:5 stated " Women praying and prophesying in the church ,Therefore I Corinthians 14::33-35 does not command women to be silent in church."
